SUNDAY, September 19th 2021
“WHOEVER WISHES TO BE FIRST,
BE THE SERVANT OF ALL”.
.
- Today Jesus speaks of his own rejection, torture and
shameful death; for true discipleship, he says, does not concern
social position but service to the poor, justice and peace.
- In the first reading, the inspiration comes from the
image of the patient servant to draw the portrait of the
righteous from the point of view of the wicked. They test Him,
to see if he will stand; and they test God, to see if He will take
care ofHim. Itisthe reaction to their challenge. Even ifHe cannot
prove it, the righteous man himself is the demonstration that
God is with him: “Let us lie in wait for the righteous man, who
is troublesome to us”.
- The apostle James reminds us today that where there
is envy and rivalry, there is also disorder and all kinds of evil. He
exhorts us not to absolutize the legitimate desire for human
progress. Indeed, when consumerism becomes an idol, we end
up immolating even our own human lives on the altar. The god
of consumption inspires many wars and conflicts among us.
- Jesus in the Gospel is instructing the apostles and told
them: “The son of man will be delivered into the hands of men,
and they will kill him…” The disciples were afraid to ask Jesus?
why? Many times, our ignorance is guilty, because we avoid the
sincere question and without firm positions.
- Let us not forget that we men are jealous of our honors
and importance. Hence the struggles and conflicts. We are
afraid of surrender and service. However, the table of the Lord
is a common table, fraternal and of evangelical encounter for
all, without distinction of persons. He always welcomes us.
- Finally, this coming week the formation courses for
new ministers and the meetings of the friars who are doing the
pastoral and liturgical seminar will continue.

“QUIEN QUIERA SER EL PRIMERO, QUE SEA EL
SERVIDOR DE TODOS”.
- `Hoy Jesús habla de su propio rechazo,tortura y muerte
vergonzosa; pues el verdadero discipulado dice El, no concierne
a la posición social sino al servicio a los pobres, la justicia y la
paz.
- En la primera lectura el sabio se inspira en la imagen del
siervo paciente para hacer el retrato del justo desde el punto
de vista de los impíos. Estos le ponen a prueba, para ver si se
mantiene; y ponen a prueba a Dios, para versise ocupa de Él. Es
la reacción ante su reto. Aunque no pueda demostrarlo, el justo
mismo es la demostración de que Dios esta con El: “Acechemos
al justo, que nos resulta incómodo”
- El apóstol Santiago nos recuerda hoy que donde hay
envidias y rivalidades, hay también desorden y toda clase
de males. Nos exhorta a no absolutizar el legítimo deseo de
progreso humano. Realmente, cuando el consumo se hace un
ídolo, se termina por inmolarle en el altar incluso las propias
vidas humanas. El dios consumo inspira muchas guerras y
conflictos entre nosotros.
- Jesús en el evangelio va instruyendo a los apóstoles y
les decía: “El hijo del hombre va a ser entregado en manos de
los hombres, y lo matarán…” ¿Los discípulos tenían miedo de
preguntar a Jesús? por qué? Muchas veces nuestra ignorancia
es culpable, porque eludimos la pregunta sincera y sin posturas
firmes.
- No olvidemos que los hombres somos celosos de nuestros
honores e importancias. De ahí lasluchas y los conflictos. Nos da
miedo la entrega y el servicio. Sin embargo, la mesa del Señor
es una mesa común, fraternal y de encuentro evangélico para
todos, sin acepción de personas. Él siempre nos acoge.
- Finalmente, esta semana próxima continuarán los
cursos de formación de nuevos ministros y los encuentros de
los hermanos que están haciendo el seminario de pastoral y
liturgia.
