SUNDAY, October 17th 2021
“I AM THE LIVING BREAD
COME DOWN FROM HEAVEN”.
- Today the first reading reminds us of the feeling of
abandonment that put the prophet Elijah in despair, who
threw himself to die in the desert, where the people suffered
despair, where Moses was harassed, where Hagar found herself
at death, for contempt of Sarah, Abraham’s wife. There was
God who gives life and strength and with the strength of that
food he walked to the mountain of God.
- With what joy,then,weproclaiminthepsalm“Taste and
see how good the Lord is”, for his praise is always in my mouth.
- The second reading invites us to live in love like Christ himself;
for the Christian is a man marked by the Spirit for the day of
final liberation. This impels us to give our life a breath of hope
and enthusiasm. “Be imitators of God, as dear children, and live
in love as Christ loved us and gave himself as an oblation and a
sweet-smelling victim
- In the Gospel of St. John, the Jews are scandalized
that the Son of Joseph and Mary, the peasant of Nazareth,
declares himself to be the Bread come down from heaven.
And before this affirmation it is of great joy to hear the Lord’s
answer: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent
me draws him. And whoever eats of this bread will live forever.
- Today we should stop to think and meditate at home
on the Value and Richness of the Eucharist and see the many
forms of indifference of many so-called “faithful Catholics”,
who come and do not receive Communion when they are able
to do so and many who, in turn,receive Communion unworthily,
without any respect whatsoever.
- Let us continue to pray forthe missions and missionaries
throughout the world and in turn for priestly and religious
vocations. I invite you to come next Sunday, October 24, World
Mission Day, with the young people of our parishes to the
vocational meeting of the so-called “Andrew Project” in the
parish of Los Dolores, starting at 4:00 pm with the Bishop and
those in charge of the diocesan vocational campaign for a very
interesting talk.

“YO SOY EL PAN VIVO BAJADO DEL CIELO”
- Hoy nos recuerda la primera lectura el sentimiento de
abandono que puso en desespero al profeta Elías, quien se echó
a morir en el desierto, en donde el pueblo sufrió desesperanza,
en donde Moisés estuvo acosado, en donde Agar se vio a la
muerte, por desacato Sara la esposa de Abraham. Allí estaba
Dios que da vida y fortaleza y con la fuerza de aquel alimento
caminó hasta el monte de Dios.
- Con cuanta alegría, entonces, proclamamos en el salmo
“Gustad y ved que bueno es el Señor”, pues su alabanza esta
siempre en mi boca.
- La segunda lectura nos invita a vivir en el amor como
Cristo mismo; pues el cristiano es un hombre marcado por el
Espíritu para el día de la liberación final. Esto nos impulsa a
dar a nuestra vida un soplo de esperanza y entusiasmo. “Sed
imitadores de Dios, como hijos queridos y vivid en el amor como
Cristo nos amó y se entregó como oblación y víctima de suave
olor.
- En el Evangelio de San Juan, losjudíosse escandalizan de
que el Hijo de José y María, el campesino de Nazaretse declare a
si mismo como el Pan bajado del cielo. Y ante esta afirmación es
de gran alegría oírle la respuesta del Señor: “Nadie puede venir
a mí, si no lo atrae el Padre que me ha enviado”. Y el que coma
de este pan, vivirá para siempre.
- Debemos hoy detenernos a pensar y meditar en casa
sobre el Valor y la Riqueza de la Eucaristía y ver las múltiples
formas de la indiferencia de muchosllamados “fieles católicos”,
que vienen y no comulgan pudiendo hacerlo y muchos que, a su
vez, comulgan indignamente, sin respeto alguno.
- Sigamos orando por las misiones y los misioneros en
el mundo entero y a su ves por las vocaciones sacerdotales y
religiosas. Desde ya les invito para que el próximo domingo,
24 de Octubre, día mundial de las misiones vayamos con los
jóvenes de nuestras parroquias al encuentro vocacional del
llamado “Proyecto Andrés” en la parroquia de los Dolores, a
partir de las 4:00 pm con el Sr. Obispo y los encargados de la
campana vocacional diocesana a una charla muy interesante.
