SUNDAY, August 29th 2021
“THEY SET ASIDE THE COMMANDMENTS
OF GOD TO FOLLOW THE TRADITION
OF MEN”.
- Today the first reading of the Mass reminds us that the
preacher isthe guide who pointsthe way to the encounter with
God; therefore, no one is closer to God than the one who makes
himself present by pronouncing His name. This is the Wisdom
that crowns all knowledge: “Do not add anything to what I
command you, so you will fulfill the precepts of the Lord”.
Here the importance that we must give as Catholics to the
fulfillment of the promises that we made from the day of our
Baptism is emphasized, and that unfortunately so many times
we have broken this covenant for reasons or situations beyond
our control, in spite of the Faith.
- The Gospel insists on the deeds of the disciple of Christ.
This attitude lies in the cleansing of the heart, according to our
conscience, which in other words is what makes us live and act
according to the criteria of God and not of men: “Get away
from me, Satan, you make me stumble, you think as men do,
and not as God does,” Jesus said to Peter.
- What disappointment would Peter feel, when he had
just been appointed by Jesus as the leader of the group of
apostles, and now he is called “Satan”? At this point we must
be very careful, all ministers and common faithful, who, in
times of persecution and crisis, make a pact with the power of
evil forgetting what the Church teaches?
- We live in compulsive environments and of great
changes, given the lack of information, of spiritual guides and
of firm bases in the education of many children and young
people, whom we have leftso many times aside, without caring
about the consequences of their acts and of their “open”
consciences, without solid foundations that structure them.
Many of them are those who leave God aside and live disorderly
lives as prodigal children.
- Evangelical justice, which entails obedience to God
and dedication to men, is the cause for which Christ died. And
thanks to His death, always so scandalous, the resurrection is
possible and certain. To celebrate the Eucharist is to know how
to lose and to win, to die and to rise again.
- In conclusion to this beautiful reflection, I invite you to
take at least 10 minutes every day to meditate on the Word of
God and thus, to act and live according to it.

“DEJAN A UN LADO LOS MANDAMIENTOS
DE DIOS PARA AFERRASEN A LA TRADICIÓN
DE LOS HOMBRES”..
- Hoy nos recuerda la primera lectura de la misa,
que el predicador es el guía que señala el camino para ir al
encuentro con Dios; por lo tanto, no hay mas cercanía que
la del que está presente al pronunciar su nombre. Ésta es la
Sabiduría que corona todo saber: “No añadáis nada a lo que
os mando, así cumpliréis los preceptos del Señor”. Aquí se
destaca la importancia que debemos de dar como católicos
al cumplimiento de las promesas que hicimos desde el día de
nuestro Bautismo, y que desafortunadamente tantas veces
hemos quebrantado esta alianza por razones o situaciones
ajenas a pesar de la Fe.
- El Evangelio insiste en las actitudes que debe poseer el
discípulo de Cristo. Esta actitud radica en la limpieza de corazón,
de acuerdo a nuestra conciencia, que en otras palabras es la
que nos hace vivir y obrar de acuerdo a los criterios de Dios y
no de los hombres: “Quítate de mí vista satanás, que me haces
tropezar; tú piensas como los hombres, no como Dios” le dijo
Jesús a Pedro.
- ¿Qué decepción sentiría Pedro, cuando acabado de ser
nombrado por Jesús como el jefe del grupo de los apóstoles,
y ahora es llamado “satanás”? En este punto hemos de tener
mucho cuidado todos los ministros y fieles comunes, que, en
momentos de persecución y crisis, ¿cuantos han pactado con el
poder del mal más allá de lo que ensena la Iglesia?
- Vivimos en ambientes compulsivos y de grandes
cambios, dada la falta de información, de guías espirituales y
de bases firmes en la educación de muchos niños y jóvenes, a
quienes hemos dejado tantas veces a un lado, sin importar las
consecuencias de sus actos y de sus conciencias “abiertas”, sin
fundamentos sólidos que los estructuren. Muchos de ellos son
los que dejan a Dios de lado y viven desordenadamente como
hijos pródigos.
- La justicia evangélica, que entraña la obediencia a Dios
y la entrega a los hombres, es la causa por la que murió Cristo.
Y gracias a esta muerte, tan escandalosa siempre, es posible y
cierta la resurrección. Celebrar la Eucaristía es saber perder y
ganar, morir y resucitar.
