SUNDAY, February 13th 2022 / “5th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME”
“BLESSED ARE THE POOR,
WOE TO YOU THAT ARE RICH!”
- Men suffer in different ways and from different
circumstances; and thus, pain becomes a kind of human nature.
In fact, our life is surrounded by moments of pain, in the midst
of joys; therefore, from these pains, Our Lord drew strength to
carry the cross and voluntarily assume his painful Passion and
Death. In Him, we place our lives, asking Him to help us to do
His holy will on earth as in heaven.
- Today the firstreading asks usto “Put all ourtrustin the
Lord” and therefore cursed is he who trusts in man and blessed
is he who trusts in the Lord, says Jeremiah and the responsorial
psalm. How difficult these words are for those brothers who
only see the material, who have no contact with God and do
not know Him or, even more, who reject Him knowing who
He is? Today many live “of what they will say” and speak only
of earthly goods and pleasures, without listening or paying
attention to all that God has brought us in the fullness of time
through His Beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ and through
Him, the Holy Mother Church in the whole world
- Today the second reading tells us that “If Christ is not
risen, your Faith has no meaning”; for if there is no resurrection,
Christian morality, however beautiful and exciting it may be,
has no meaning, for we act out of the firm hope of overcoming
the horrible pothole of death, but in the Risen Christ, we all
hope to die in order to live eternally with Him.
- The proclamation of the Gospel is good news for the
poor, and bad news for the rich. It is important, therefore, an
evangelization based on the fundamentals of our Faith and not on
humanwords:“Woetothosewholaughnow,fortheywillweep”.
Finally, the Beatitudes imply a real change of existential
situations and we cannot worthily celebrate the holy mysteries if
we do not live in poverty, in pain, in misunderstanding, in obedience
and in trust in God. Only in this way will we become blessed.

“DEJÁNDOLO TODO LO SIGUIERON”
- En el encuentro personal con Dios el profeta recibe su
mandato: Mediar con su palabra entre el Dios Santo y el pueblo
pecador. Isaías recuerda hoy en la primera lectura su encuentro
en el templo con Dios y trata de explicarlo sirviéndose de la s
circunstancias del momento. Su misión es llevar la palabra que
purifique, como a él, al pueblo impuro: “Entonces, escuche la
voz del Señor, que decía: ¿A quién mandaré? ¿Quién irá por mí?
Y conteste: Aquí estoy, mándame.
- En la segunda lectura, san Pablo nos dice que el
Evangelio que El anuncia es, sencillamente, una noticia
referente a la vida humana: desde que Cristo ha sido el primero
en salir del sepulcro, la muerte ha dejado de ser el mayor
enemigo de los seres humanos. El cristianismo es un mensaje
de vida y optimismo, porque lo primero que os trasmití, tal
como lo había recibido, fue esto: Que Cristo murió por nuestros
pecados, según las Escrituras, que fue sepultado y que Resucito
al tercer día.
- Conectando toda esta palabra de Dios con nuestra
vida, hoy el Evangelio nos anuncia el llamado que le hizo a
Pedro y a los apóstoles, para que se conviertan en pescadores
de hombres. Y la mejor manera de lograrlo es dejar su oficio
de la pesca y abandonar todo; pues la pesca evangélica que el
Señor les ofrece no se puede realizar sino en un contexto de
generosidad y entrega sumisa y humilde. “Y ellos, dejándolo
todo, lo siguieron”.
- Recordemos que el cristiano es el que conoce lo que
transmite. Ante la pesca milagrosa de tanta, gracia, nosotros
tenemos que responder al Señor con una actitud consciente
de fe personal; Por lo tanto, les invito esta semana para que
oremos por las vocaciones sacerdotales y religiosas en el mundo
entero.
