SUNDAY, DECEMBER 13th 2020
THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT
John the Baptist is a messenger who prepares the ways, and
puts the lives of the people in the confrontation, denounces
sin and announces a future of hope.
- The central message is this: “I sent my messenger ahead of
me; behind me comes the strong one, stronger than me”.
In the same way, we see how the life of faith is a chain of
events; there are some before and others after. When these
have been lived in patience and hope, they become roads and
avenues for the arrival of God.

- “Rejoice always in the Lord; I repeat, be happy. The Lord is
near” because today is the Sunday of Mary’s joy, of knowing
that her son is already here, among us to fulfill the sending of
God, our Father; therefore, this joy has to embrace us all as
a Church and a Community of Faith… because this real event
transformed the history of the people of Israel, announced
in advance by all the prophets. We are already at the door,
waiting, for the one who comes to save us.
- The proclamation of the Gospel today is not only good news
for the end, but now. If the Gospel cannot be proclaimed
at the same time as a consequence of it the lame no longer
begins to walk, the blind to see and the poor to come out
of their life of abandonment. There cannot be evangelization
without liberation; hence Jesus’ response to John’s question:
“Go tell John what you are seeing and hearing and blessed is
he who is not scandalized by me.”
- As a final note, I want in a very special way to give thanks
today to all the families, members of our community and
parish groups that with their economic contribution, have
made possible the beautiful Christmas lighting on this
beautiful corner of Jackson Heights, as a means of Union
and protection faced with the pandemic, so we ask the Child
Jesus that His Blessing reaches out to us and free us from all
evil. I give thanks to all the parishioners who send us their
envelopes of support to our works.

TERCER DOMINGO DE ADVIENTO
“ABRAN UN CAMINO DERECHO PARA EL SEÑOR
(JUAN 1,6)”
- Juan el Bautista es un precursor que prepara los caminos, y pone en
cuestión la vida de las personas, denuncia el pecado y anuncia un
porvenir de esperanza.
- El mensaje central es este: “Envío a mi mensajero delante de mí;
detrás de mi viene el fuerte, más fuerte que yo”. De la misma
manera, vemos como la vida de fe es una cadena de acontecimientos;
hay unos antes y otros después. Cuando estos se han vivido en la
paciencia y en la esperanza se convierten en caminos y avenidas de
la llegada de Dios.
- “Estad siempre alegres en el Señor; os lo repito, estad alegres. El
Señor está cerca” pues hoy es el Domingo de la alegría de María,
de saber que su hijo, ya está aquí, entre nosotros para cumplir el
envío de Dios, Nuestro Padre; por lo tanto, esta alegría nos tiene
que abrazar a todos como Iglesia y Comunidad de Fe… pues este
acontecimiento real transformo la historia del pueblo de Israel,
anunciado con antelación por todos los profetas. Ya estamos a la
puerta, en espera, por quien viene a Salvarnos.
- La proclamación del Evangelio de hoy no es solamente una
buena noticia para el final, sino ya desde ahora. Si el Evangelio
no puede ser proclamado al mismo tiempo como consecuencia
de ello no empiezan ya a andar los cojos, a ver los ciegos y a salir
de su indigencia los pobres. No puede haber evangelización sin
liberación; de ahí la respuesta de Jesús ante la pregunta de Juan:
“Id anunciar a Juan lo que estáis viendo y oyendo y dichoso el que
no se escandaliza de mi”.
- Como nota final, quiero de manera muy especial dar gracias hoy
a todas las familias, miembros de nuestra comunidad y Grupos
parroquiales que con su aporte económico han hecho posible el
hermoso alumbrado navideño de esta linda esquina de Jackson
Heights, como medio de Unión y protección ante la pandemia,
pidiendo al Nino Jesús, su Bendición nos alcance y nos libre de todo
mal. Al igual a todos los feligreses que nos hacen llegar sus sobres
de apoyo a nuestras obras.
Bendiciones, con mis mejores deseos por una Navidad Feliz y en
Paz.
