SUNDAY, August 28 th 2022
“HE WHO HUMBLES HIMSELF WILL BE EXALTED”.
- Humility finds favor with men and with God. “Make
yourself small and you will find favor with God” says the first
reading of the day. People esteem and love those who, because
they are humble, value them in their greatness. God opens Himself
and reveals Himself to the humblest, so that we may obtain all
greatness from Him. To all this, we respond with Psalm 67 “You
have prepared, O God, a house for the poor”.
- In the New Testament God has become more
approachable and more accessible to all. He comes to have a
human name: Jesus, the Liberator, to get to God you have to go
through Jesus. This pure figure of Jesus, not puritanical, appears
in today’s Gospel inviting the Pharisees to occupy the last places,
because they do not respect the norms of courtesy and good
conduct that we should all have.
- When you give a banquet, invite the poor, the
crippled, the lame and the blind; blessed are you, for they cannot
repay you;they will repay you when the righteous are raised. Here,
the Banquet of the Kingdom, the meaning of the Eucharist, is the
banquet ofthe poor. In the liturgy, let us not discriminate between
people. We are all equal at the holy table.
- What a joy to live all united in the same spirit of service
and co-responsibility among brothers and sisters,sharing the same
food that the Lord offers us freely in each Eucharist we celebrate.
If we all complied with this precept,the world would be wonderful
and we would not suffer so much.
- Let us gather this week the fruits of summer, of rest, of
family sharing and let us save for harvest time the fruits that we
will take to heaven when we are called. Amen.

Desde el escritorio del Padre Gabriel Toro:
“EL QUE SE HUMILLA SERÁ ENALTECIDO”
- La humildad halla el favor de los hombres y de Dios. “Hazte
pequeño y alcanzarás el favor de Dios” dice la primera lectura del
día. Los hombres estiman y aman al que por humilde les valora
en su grandeza. Dios se abre y se revela a los más humildes y así
alcancemos de Él todas las grandezas. A todo esto, respondemos
con el salmo 67 “Preparaste, oh Dios, casa para los pobres”.
- En el Nuevo Testamento Dios se ha hecho más asequible
y más accesible a todos. Llega a tener un nombre humano: Jesús,
el Libertador, para llegar a Dios hay que pasar por Jesús. Esta
figura pura de Jesús, no puritana aparece en el evangelio de hoy
invitando a los fariseos para que ocupen los últimos puestos, por
faltar a las normas de cortesía y de buena conducta que debemos
tener todos.
- Cuando des un banquete, invita a los pobres, lisiados, cojos
y ciegos; dichoso tú, porque no pueden pagarte;te pagaran cuando
resuciten los justos. Aquí, el Banquete del Reino, significado de la
Eucaristía, es el banquete d ellos pobres. No hagamos en la liturgia
acepción de personas. Todos somos iguales en la santa mesa.
- Que alegría vivir todos unidos en el mismo espíritu de
servicio y corresponsabilidad entre hermanos, participando del
mismo manjar que el Señor nos ofrece gratuitamente en cada
Eucaristía que Celebramos. Si todos cumpliéramos con este
precepto, el mundo sería maravilloso y no sufriríamos tanto.
- Recojamos en esta semana los frutos del verano, del
descanso, del compartir familiar y guardemos para el tiempo de
la cosecha los frutos que llevaremos al cielo cuando nos llamen.
