From the Pastor Desk –
“GO YE ALSO INTO MY VINEYARD”
- During the last few Sundays, the Gospels have reminded
us of Jesus’ teachings on fraternal correction and forgiveness,
the foundation of new relationships among the disciples and
the visible expression of the Kingdom of God. Today’s Gospel
continues with the proclamation of the Kingdom: “You also go
into my vineyard”.
- Today with the psalmist we can say: “The Lord is good to
all”, he calls all to work in his vineyard, to be integrated into his
people which is the Church, that is, we all receive the invitation
from God. He does not exclude anyone, in fact he goes out several
times during the day to continue calling workers to his vineyard.
God wants everyone to be working in his vineyard, he does not
want anyone to feel excluded.
- In the light of the Gospel we can also think about the just
remuneration of workers. We know that the payment for work
corresponds justly to those who work responsibly. In the case of
the Kingdom of God, God calls constant workers to his vineyard,
summons them in the morning, at noon, at sunset and before the
end of the day, the payment is the same for those who worked
the whole day as for those who worked a couple of hours.
- This story is not an injustice, the owner of the vineyard
paid what was agreed upon. Rather, this Gospel passage allows
us to see that God always gives the opportunity to add members
to his vineyard, that is, to his Church. The most important thing is
not how much work was done, but in the vineyard.
- Although we have been Christians for a long time,
we still have much to learn. There is still a great distance
between God’s plans and ours, as Isaiah says: “My plans are
not your plans”. From the Gospel we learn that God always
surprises us and exceeds our expectations, changes our way of
understanding our relationship with Him and with our brothers.
He keeps calling, inviting us to work in his vineyard. At the evening
of each day may we be able to say, like St. Paul to the Christians of
Philippi, that for us life is Christ.
- Food for thought: God calls again and again throughout
our history. what is God calling me to at this moment in my life?

Desde el escritorio del Padre Gabriel Toro:
“ID TAMBIÉN VOSOTROS A MI VIÑA”
- Los Evangelios durante los últimos domingos nos han recordado
las enseñanzas de Jesús sobre la corrección fraterna y el perdón,
fundamento de unas nuevas relaciones entre los discípulos y expresión
visible del Reino de Dios. El Evangelio de hoy continua con el anuncio
del Reino: “Id también vosotros a mi viña”.
- Hoy con el salmista podemos decir: “El Señor es bueno con todos”,
Él convoca a todos para que trabajen en su viña, para que se integren
en su pueblo que es la Iglesia, es decir, todos recibimos la invitación
por parte de Dios. Él no excluye a ninguno, es más sale varias veces
durante la jornada para seguir llamando obreros a su viña. Dios quiere
que todos estén trabajando en su viña, no quiere que alguno se siente
excluido.
- A la luz del Evangelio también podemos pensar en la justa retribución
de los trabajadores. Sabemos que el pago del trabajo corresponde
justamente a los que trabajan con responsabilidad. En el caso del Reino
de Dios, Dios llama constante trabajadores a su viña, los convoca a la
mañana, al mediodía, al atardecer y antes que acabe el día, el pago es
el mismo tanto para los que trabajaron toda la jornada como para los
que trabajaron un par de horas.
- Este relato no es una injusticia, el dueño de la viña pagó lo pactado.
Más bien este pasaje evangélico nos permite ver que, Dios da siempre
la oportunidad que se añadan miembros a su viña, es decir a su Iglesia.
Lo más importante no es qué tanto se trabajó, sino en la viña de quién
se trabajó. Por fe sabemos que estamos en la viña del Señor: qué mejor
regalo que pertenecer a la viña del Señor.
- Aunque hace tiempo somos cristianos, nos queda aún mucho por
aprender. Todavía es grande la distancia entre los proyectos de Dios y
los nuestros, como dice Isaías: “Mis planes no son vuestros planes”. Del
Evangelio aprendemos que Dios siempre nos sorprende y sobrepasa
nuestras expectativas, cambia nuestra manera de comprender
nuestra relación con Él y con nuestros hermanos.
- Él sigue llamando, invitando, a trabajar en su viña. Que al atardecer de
cada jornada podamos decir, como San Pablo a los cristianos de Filipo,
que para nosotros la vida es Cristo.
- Para reflexionar: Dios llama una y otra vez a lo largo de nuestra
historia. ¿a qué me llama Dios en este momento de mi vida? ¿cómo voy
a responder?
- “La Eucaristía, como anticipo de vida plena, es el denario de la
retribución cristiana”.
