Pastor Desk | “30th SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME” .. | October 30th 2022

From the Pastor Desk –

“THE PUBLICAN WENT DOWN TO HIS HOUSE
JUSTIFIED; THE PHARISEE DID NOT. “

  • On this Sunday, the Gospel severely judges the Pharisees,
a group of nationalistic Jews, mostly rigorist, traditional and
legalistic laypeople. They do not grasp the need for conversion,
are very attached to their personal opinions, and despise the
humble. Pride prevented them from knowing Jesus as the one
sent by God. Generally, Phariseeism is more attentive to the law
    than the spirit and makes a man more arrogant and hypocritical;
today, the Pharisees are those who are guided by hidden rules
and act scandalizing others and defend themselves when it is
convenient for them. The publican’s attitude was humble and
valued by God because he remained at a distance from the
others; he recognized himself as a sinner; therefore, the one who
humbles himself will be exalted, and the one who exalts himself
    will be humiliated.

  • How much we profitfrom prayer when we pray from the
heart and in closeness to God. Today hedonism and the utilitarian
currents of the world have caused many of our brothers to lose
the path of faith for lack of religious and moral identity. It is the
eagerness of those who live only concerned about the world’s
    goods, not those of heaven.

  • Let us remember that we do not go to Mass to justify or
boast but to be justified and give glory to God in accepting and
    understanding the brethren.

Desde el escritorio del Padre Gabriel Toro:

“EL PUBLICANO BAJÓ A SU CASA JUSTIFICADO, EL
FARISEO NO”.

“He combatido bien mi combate, he corrido hasta la meta, he

        • Bendiciones,
Padre Gabriel Jaime Toro R – Pastor
