From the Pastor Desk –
“YOU CANNOT SERVE BOTH GOD AND MONEY”
- Today the prophet Amos denounces the false securities
of those who violate God’s laws, doing all that He dislikes and
exposes those who profit from the welfare of others and
gradually makes them aware of servitude as the principle of
salvation. “We are the hands and feet of the Lord on earth: and
we came into this world to serve, not to be served”.
- The profession of faith that we make every Sunday is not
just a passive acceptance of a religious creed, but a difficult and
fierce struggle, because believing is not comfortable, but carries
with it a readiness for a concrete struggle. To believe is to commit
oneself: “By your profession of faith, keep the commandments
without blemish and without reproach, until the appearing of
our Lord Jesus Christ”.
- The parable of the rich man Epulon and the poor man
Lazarus does not leave the solution to poverty and misery to the
hereafter, for the rich man is condemned to eternal punishment
and the poor man is taken among his angels to the throne of
God. It is a call to all men to practice the corporal and spiritual
works of mercy and to reap from life, for eternity.
- The breaking of the bread or Eucharist demands of
Christians a sharing of all goods, a communion with Christ. Only
in this way can the commandment of charity be kept until the
coming of the Lord.
- I extend my greetings to all the families and children who
have begun their faith formation program in our School of Religion.
You are all WELCOME! I ask for your cooperation from your homes,
so that we can accompany you, reviewing your homework and as
a family, so that you too can learn about the things of God and the
Church, that is why the book you have is bilingual and provides
you all with this knowledge, at the same time as you are reviewing
and memorizing the Prayers of the good Christian. Remember
that we must work together: The family, the school and the
parish with priests, parents, catechists and sponsors. With all
my heart I hope this program will be successful for everyone.

Desde el escritorio del Padre Gabriel Toro:
“RECIBISTE BIENES Y LAZARO MALES”
- Hoy el profeta Amós denuncia las falsas seguridades de
quienes violan las leyes de Dios, haciendo todo aquello que a El le
desagrada y pone en evidencia de los que se lucran del bienestar
ajeno y poco a poco les hace tomar conciencia de la servidumbre
como principio de salvación. “Somos las manos y los pies del
Señor en la tierra: y venimos a este mundo a servir, no para ser
servidos”.
- La profesión de fe que hacemos cada domingo no es
solamente una aceptación pasiva de un credo religioso, sino un
combate difícil y encarnizado, pues creer no es cómodo, sino que
lleva con sigo mismo la disponibilidad para una lucha concreta.
Creer es comprometerse: “Con tu profesión de fe, cumple los
mandamientos sin mancha y sin reproche, hasta la manifestación
de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo”.
- La parábola del rico Epulón y el pobre Lázaro no deja para
el más allá la solución de la pobreza y de la miseria, ya que al rico
lo condena al castigo eterno y al pobre lo lleva entre sus ángeles
al trono de Dios. Es un llamado a todos los hombres para que
practiquemos las obras de misericordia corporales y espirituales
y cosechar desde la vida, para la eternidad.
- La fracción del pan o eucaristía exige de los cristianos un
reparto de todos los bienes, una comunión con Cristo. Solo así se
puede guardar el mandamiento de la caridad hasta la venida del
Señor.
- Hago extensivo mi saludo a todas las familias y a los niños
que han iniciado su programa de formación de la Fe en nuestra
Escuela de Religión. ¡Sean todos BIENVENIDOS! Solicito vuestra
cooperación desde sus casas, para que los acompañemos,
revisando sus tareas y en familia, puedan también ustedes
instruirse en las cosas de Dios y de la Iglesia, por eso el libro
que tienen es bilingüe y les facilita a todos este conocimiento,
a la vez que van repasando y memorizando las Oraciones del
buen cristiano. Recuerden que debemos trabajar juntos: La
familia, la escuela y la parroquia con los sacerdotes, los padres,
los catequistas y los padrinos. De todo corazón espero este
programa sea Exitoso para todos.
