Seventh SUNDAY OF EASTER
“ASCENSION OF THE LORD”
“WHILE HE BLESSED THEM, HE WAS GOING UP TO
HEAVEN”
- The Feast that we celebrate of the Ascension of the
Lord reveals to us that we only reach fullness at the end of life,
and that, furthermore, he is a Gift from God. Exalted Jesus,
made Lord and Firstborn of his brothers, is the guarantee of the
promise that we expect. But it is at the same time, an immediate
project of action, a chore, a task without delay: What are they
doing looking at the sky? He will return, but for now “Go and
make new disciples, for I will be with you every day.

- The Second Reading of the day reminds us that the
Ascension of Christ supposes the definitive dominion over
everything that threatens human existence. If, then, Christ
has the Church as his right arm and his complement, why do
Christians so frequently inhibit themselves in human struggles
against all those who try to stop the process of liberation?
- In the conclusion of the Gospel of Saint Luke today, we
read that evangelization had to begin in Jerusalem, the Good
News is something that is above all, even those who occupy
the highest positions in the Church. Pastors will not be able to
proclaim a Gospel that they have not first heard with humility
and docility: “They prostrated themselves before Him and
returned to Jerusalem with great joy” By this Grace Christ is
always present in the Eucharist and sustains us in the process of
personal and community maturation. Now my question is, how
have we lived on a personal level this transformation that God
has given us since the day of our Baptism?

SÉPTIMO DOMINGO DE PASCUA
“ASCENSIÓN DEL SEÑOR”
“MIENTRAS LOS BENDECÍA, IBA SUBIENDO AL
CIELO”
- La Fiesta que celebramos de la Ascensión del Señor nos
revela que la plenitud solamente la alcanzamos al final de la vida,
y que, además, es un Don de Dios. Jesús Exaltado, hecho Señor y
Primogénito de sus hermanos, es la garantía de la promesa que
esperamos. Pero es a la vez, un proyecto inmediato de acción,
un quehacer, una tarea sin dilación: ¿Qué hacen mirando al cielo?
Volverá, pero por el momento “Vayan y hagan nuevos discípulos,
que Yo estaré con vosotros todos los días.
- La primera lectura de los Hechos de los Apóstoles nos
recuerda que la plenitud del Reino de Dios vendrá cuando Dios
quiera y en los momentos que menos lo esperamos. No se alejen
todavía de Jerusalén hasta que se cumpla la Promesa del Padre
Celestial y sean Bautizados con el Espíritu Santo. Por ahora
digamos con el salmo: “Dios Asciende entre aclamaciones; el
Señor, al son de trompetas”.
- La Segunda Lectura del día nos recuerda que la Ascensión
de Cristo supone el dominio definitivo sobre todo lo que amenaza
a la existencia humana. Si, pues, Cristo tiene a la Iglesia como
su brazo derecho y su complemento, ¿Por qué los cristianos se
inhiben tan frecuentemente en las luchas humanas contra todos
los que intentan frenar el proceso de liberación?
- En la conclusión del Evangelio de San Lucas hoy, leemos
que la evangelización tenia que comenzar por Jerusalén, la Buena
Noticia es algo que está por encima de todos, incluso de los que
ocupan los primeros puestos en la Iglesia. Los pastores no podrán
proclamar un Evangelio que ellos no hayan oído primero con
humildad y docilidad: “Ellos se postraron ante El y se volvieron
a Jerusalén con gran alegría” Por esta Gracia Cristo siempre
se hace presente en la Eucaristía y nos sostiene en el proceso
de maduración personal y comunitaria. Ahora mi pregunta es,
¿Cómo hemos vivido a nivel personal esta transformación que
Dios nos ha dado desde el día de nuestro Bautismo?
