“HE HEALED MANY WHO WERE SICK
OF VARIOUS DISEASES”
- Job’s cry of despair contrasts with the hope of those who
put their trust in Jesus who heals the brokenhearted and binds up
their wounds. These are the blessings of the good news.
- The Gospel of St. Mark today presents Jesus beginning
his apostolic activity at the house of his friends: “When they left
the synagogue, Jesus went with James and John to the house
of Simon and Andrew. Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a
fever. They told Jesus, and He came and took her by the hand and
lifted her up; and immediately her fever broke, and He began to
minister to them”. We cannot ignore, however, that he also visited
other towns: “So Jesus went throughout Galilee, proclaiming the
message in the synagogues of every place and casting out demons”.
- In any case “Good charity begins at home”, says the
popular adage. This does not mean that it also ends there, but it
is important to know where it begins. The strategy of evil, as the
Lord reminds us, is that we go about living the virtues in the circles
farthest from our will, that is, in the imagination; and, on the
contrary, that we live the defects in the circles closest to our will,
and in our daily relationships with the people we are closest to”.
- Let us remember that the Church was not founded on the
basis of an ecclesiology, but began as a group of Twelve Apostles
who continued the teachings of Jesus, his person, his message and
his work. Thus with this small flock he begins to form his servants.
- The Reading from Isaiah reminds us how the Lord breaks
bread with the hungry, shelters the homeless poor, clothes the
naked and does not close himself to his own flesh. In his infinite
mercy, he satisfies us with all his good things so that we may shine
in the midst of darkness.
- Paul presents us with the image of the crucified one in the
second reading, as the central axis of all his preaching. He tells us
that he presents himself to us weak and trembling with fear, so
that his word may be manifested by the power of the Holy Spirit
and so that we may all open ourselves to faith, supported by divine
wisdom.
- As a task for our work at home with our children, we have
to look for and implement the program of religious education with
certain activities that make them participate more in the Eucharist,
in the discovery of their own values and in the special care of the
spiritual life that is manifested in each one according to the gifts
and abilities received.
- Let us remember that the true flavor of things and the
taste with which we live and enjoy life, is something in common
that leaves us all with the experience of the weekly participation in
the encounter with God in the Holy Mass. Thus we realize ourselves
as luminous children of the Father of heaven.

Desde el escritorio del Padre Gabriel Toro:
“CURÓ A MUCHOS ENFERMOS
DE DIVERSOS MALES”
- El clamor de desesperanza de Job, contrasta con la
esperanza de os que ponen su confianza en Jesús que Sana a los
que tienen quebrantado el corazón y venda sus heridas. Estas son
las bendiciones de la buena nueva.
- El Evangelio de San Marcos nos presenta hoy a Jesús
comenzando su actividad apostólica por la casa de sus amigos:
“Cuando salieron de la sinagoga, Jesús fue con Santiago y Juan
a casa de Simón y Andrés. La suegra de Simón estaba en cama,
con fiebre. Se lo dijeron a Jesús y Él se acercó, y tomándola de la
mano la levanto; al momento, se le quito la fiebre y comenzó a
atenderlos”. No podemos desconocer, sin embargo, que también
recorría otras poblaciones: “Así que Jesús andaba por toda la
Galilea, anunciando el mensaje en las sinagogas de cada lugar y
expulsando a los demonios”.
- En todo caso “La buena caridad empieza por casa”, dice
el adagio popular. No significa esto que también acabe allí, pero
si es importante saber dónde comienza. La estrategia del mal,
como nos recuerda el Señor es que vayamos viviendo las virtudes
en los círculos mas alejados de nuestra voluntad, es decir en la
imaginación; y, por el contrario que vivamos los defectos en los
círculos más cercanos a nuestra voluntad, y en nuestras relaciones
cotidianas con las personas que tenemos más de cerca”.
- Recordemos que la Iglesia no fue fundada a partir de una
eclesiología, sino que comenzó como grupo de Doce Apóstoles
que continuaron las enseñanzas de Jesús, su persona, su mensaje
y su obra. Así con este pequeño rebaño empieza a formar a sus
servidores.
- La Lectura de Isaías nos recuerda como El Señor parte el
pan con los hambrientos, hospeda a los pobres sin techo, viste
a los desnudos y no se cierra a su propia carne. En su infinita
misericordia nos sacia de todos sus bienes para que brillemos en
medio de las tinieblas.
- Pablo nos presenta la imagen del crucificado en la segunda
lectura, como el eje central de toda su predicación. Nos dice que él
se nos presenta débil y temblando de miedo, para que su palabra
sea manifestada por el poder del espíritu Santo y así podamos
todos abrirnos a la fe apoyados en la sabiduría Divina.
- Como tarea para nuestro trabajo en casa con los hijos,
hemos de ir buscando e implementando el programa de educación
religiosa con ciertas actividades que los hagan mas participes en
la Eucaristía, en el descubrimiento de sus propios valores y en el
cuidado especial de la vida espiritual que se va manifestando en
cada uno de acuerdo a los dones y habilidades recibidas. - Recordemos que el verdadero sabor de las cosas y el
gusto con que vivimos y disfrutamos de la vida, es algo en común
que nos deja a todos la experiencia de la participación semanal
del encuentro con Dios en la Santa Misa. Así nos realizamos como
hijos luminosos del Padre de los cielos
