“COMMAND ME TO COME TO YOU, WALKING
ON THE WATER”
- When Elijah came to Mount Horeb, the Lord spoke to him
and said to him, “Stand on the mountain before his Lord; and
he felt it passing in the midst of a breeze, and when he felt it, he
covered his face with his mantle, and so he prepared himself at the
entrance of the cave, says the book of Kings in the first reading.
This passage is very important for us to know how to differentiate
and feel the presence of God within us, in many ways
- After his conversion, St. Paul tells us in the second
reading, he did not return to Judaism; but he did not adopt an
ironic or contemptuous attitude towards them; on the contrary,
he continued to be ready to give everything for those brothers
who followed him and listened to his message of life. “I feel very
sorry for the brothers of my race, but God is above all.”
- In the story of the storm at sea, when the Lord approaches at
dawn after being in deep prayer, who, walking on the water, his
disciples saw him and were filled with fear; and although Jesus is
performing a miracle, he is seen as a ghost. We must not confuse
the supernatural with the fantastic. This Gospel story avoids any
mythical aspect and narrates with extreme simplicity what is
extraordinary.
- In conclusion, we can say that God is not a hurricane
wind, an earthquake or a fire: He is a whisper, a breeze. And Christ
is recognized as the Son of God when the storm subsides. In the
Eucharistic gathering we can affirm the presence of the God of
Jesus Christ, enlightened by the Spirit, when we recognize the real
signs of his kingship.

presence… How do you speak to Him and how do you connect?

Desde el escritorio del Padre Gabriel Toro:
“MÁNDAME IR A TI,
CAMINANDO SOBRE EL AGUA”
- Cuando Elías llegó al monte Horeb, le habló el Señor y le
dijo: “Ponte de pie en el monte ante su Señor; y lo sintió pasar en
medio de una brisa, y al sentirla, se tapó el rostro con el manto, y
así se dispuso a la entrada de la cueva, dice el libro de los Reyes en la
primera lectura. Este pasaje es muy importante para que nosotros
sepamos diferenciar y sentir la presencia de Dios dentro de nosotros,
de muchas maneras.
- Después de su conversión, San Pablo nos dice en la segunda
lectura no volvió a practicar el judaísmo; pero no por eso adoptó
frente a ellos una actitud irónica ni de desprecio; por el contrario,
siguió estando dispuesto a darlo todo por aquellos hermanos que lo
siguieron y escucharon su mensaje de vida. “Siento mucha pena por
los hermanos de mi raza, pero Dios está por encima de todos”.
- En la narración de la tormenta en el mar, cuando el Señor
se acerca en la madrugada luego de estar en profunda oración,
quien, andando sobre el agua, lo vieron sus discípulos y se llenaron
de miedo; y aunque Jesús está realizando un prodigio es visto como
un fantasma. No hay que confundir lo sobrenatural con lo fantástico.
Este relato evangélico elude todo aspecto mítico y narra con extrema
sencillez lo que no deja de ser extraordinario
- En conclusión, podemos decir que Dios no es un viento
huracanado, un terremoto o un fuego: Es un susurro, es una brisa.
Y Cristo es reconocido como el Hijo de Dios cuando la tempestad se
calma. En la reunión Eucarística podemos afirmar la presencia del
Dios de Jesucristo, iluminados por el Espíritu, cuando reconocemos
los signos reales de su realeza.
