SUNDAY, January 30th 2022 / “FOUR SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME”
“THE LORD HAS SENT ME TO BRING GOOD NEWS TO
THE POOR AND TO PROCLAIM LIBERATION TO THE
CAPTIVES”
- In the first reading, the experience of God’s call to the
prophets transformed all their lives. Here Jeremiah confessed
his anguish as a prophetin the struggle with everyone, and even
with God himself, he has a strength that is marveling, because
he knows how to explain what God feels with him: “Before I
formed you in the womb, I chose you” … Hence today’s psalm
“My mouth will tell of your salvation, Lord”.
- The Apostle Paul invites us to seek the better charisms;
for Christianity is fundamentally Love, “Love of God and
neighbor above all”. Here it is impossible to separate these
two loves, because God recognizes as a valid representative
only those who practice Love in general. The rest of ethics,
asceticism and Christian mysticism is nothing more than an
unfolding of this primordial chapter: “In one word today there
remain faith, hope and love. Of these three, the greatest is
Love”.
- It would be very helpful for us today, Sunday, to
stop and think about the various forms of love that we have
practiced in our Christian life and above all, how our experience
of life in Christ has been in the dimension of inclusive Love.
- In St. Luke’s Gospel, Jesus’ fellow countrymen cannot
stand the fact that he is a prophet. They would have dreamed
of a superman; for there are still today some very fashionable
spiritualist currents, which present JESUS as a Superstar or
super star, and do not tolerate seeing him as an everyday man
close to everyone: “Truly I tell you, no prophet is well regarded
in his own country”.
- Finally, the word we heard today makes us true
prophets with a mission of grace for all those who are in need
and live with simplicity of heart, this is the Easter meaning of
the Sunday Celebration.
- In this way I invite you to attend every Sunday the true
Eucharistic Sacrifice with Love and Generosity

“EL SEÑOR ME HA ENVIADO PARA ANUNCIAR A
LOS POBRES LA BUENA NUEVA Y PROCLAMAR LA
LIBERACIÓN A LOS CAUTIVOS”
- En la primera lectura El pueblo restaurado inaugura
con el sacerdote Esdras en una asamblea santa su nueva
existencia. Preside la Palabra de Dios, que es leída y explicada
de modo que todos la entiendan y todos dicen Amén como
compromiso y como comunidad de fe. Hoy nosotros, el pueblo
santo y elegido decimos también SI a Dios y como asamblea nos
comprometemos a vivir fielmente la Fe recibida, al igual que los
mandamientos del Señor.
- En la segunda lectura, vemos la Iglesia como el cuerpo
de Cristo y cada uno de nosotros como sus miembros; pero
ninguno de ellos funciona separado del cuerpo y de la cabeza;
de ahí la diversidad de ministerios y formas de servir. Hoy el
Señor nos invita para que todos cooperemos en el plan de
salvación de nuestros hermanos y aunemos esfuerzos por
crecer y permanecer dentro de los parámetros establecidos y
regidos por el Papa Francisco y la jerarquía eclesiástica en el
mundo entero.
- El Evangelio de hoy nos recuerda el Anuncio público
del Reino de Dios en la sinagoga de Nazareth cuando Jesús
llegó luego de su Bautismo en el Rio Jordán y de pasó por sus
cuarenta días de ayuno y penitencia en el desierto: “El Espíritu
del Señor esta sobre mí, porque me ha ungido y me ha enviado
para anunciar el Evangelio a los pobres y a los cautivos, a los
ciegos y a los oprimidos”.
- Recordemos siempre que la Palabra de Dios se cumple
en la Eucaristía siempre que hay Espíritu Santo, siempre que
hay anuncio de la libertad de opresión. Por eso la comunidad
eucarística es esencial misionera y profética, para descubrir
siempre y en todo lugar que Dios nos ha revelado todo desde la
creación del mundo
