Pastor Desk | “To whom shall we go, You have the Words of Eternal Life”. .| August 22th 2021

From the Pastor Desk –

SUNDAY, August 22th  2021

“To whom shall we go,
You have the Words
of Eternal Life”.

  • In today’s readings, the origin of Israel emerges
through the Covenant between God and His people. covenant
means make the salvation given to others our own and thus
become the people of God. Today Joshua in the first reading
confronts the tribes of Israel, “Will you break your covenant
with Yahweh? Far be it from us to forsake the Lord to serve
    foreign gods”

  • Today’s Psalm invite us to taste and see how good the
Lord is and bless him at every moment, but, how many times do
we speak and taste of the Lord in our daily life?

  • The second reading tells us about the relationship between
husband and wife, which should be based on the harmony of
mutual love. The wife’s submission to her husband is modeled
on submission to the Lord, which, far from humiliating,
ennobles: “To love one’s wife is to love oneself.” How good
should be that families dialogue about their relationship and
the way they orient it inside and outside the home. Today’s
families should consider four essential pillars for the stability of
the home: Love, Respect, Communication and Mutual Fidelity

  • In the Gospel, the Jews could not accept that Jesus
from Nazareth presented himself as the divine food. Jesus
states that His doctrine invite us to overcoming what is mortal
and precarious in our human existence. It was a dissertation of
life, of Resurrection: what if you see the Son of Man ascending
to where he belongs? It is the spirit that gives life, the flesh is
temporal, Jesus knew from the beginning who did not believe
and who would be the one to deliver him up.
  • Many disciples of Jesus, after professing to be
Christians, rejected the faith. Without the faith the Gospel is
unacceptable and therefore so is the Eucharist. However, the
authentic believer gathers in community, believes in the Word
of God, and practices it through his deeds.

“A quien vamos a acudir,

Rev. Gabriel Jaime Toro R – Pastor
