From the Pastor Desk –
“BY OUR PERSEVERANCE
WE SHALL SAVE THE SOUL”
- It gives us a little fear to hear the words of the Lord
in the first reading, regarding good and evil, with which we
live daily and which we will only see their effects on the day of
judgement where the wicked and the perverse will be burnt like
chaff in a furnace and the righteous will be brought in a sun of
righteousness to the throne of the God of hosts.
- In the second reading, St. Paul exhorts the Thessalonians
to set a good example in their work in order to be able to offer
the Gospel completely free of charge to all the brethren: “No
one gives us for nothing the bread we eat, so that we may
not be a burden to others, for we have heard that some live
without working”. We all have to work with dignity in order
to earn our daily bread, something that is very much lacking
today, especially in the environment of the families themselves,
where a loving and attentive response to the maintenance
of the household is not demanded from the children.
In the Gospel we see how Jesus did not deceive his Church by
presenting her with a rosy picture, but expressly gave her to
understand that her story would be long and full of difficulties
and struggles: “They will hate you all for my sake” but there will
come a day when not one stone will be left upon another.
- We must remember that patience is an essential
constituent of hope. The Christian must trust and share the same
patience as Jesus. The work will continue to be necessary and
difficult until the day when the justice of Christ’s saving work is
imposed. Amen
- As homework for this week, I ask each of you reading
this message to do some serious and conscious reflection on the
ways and means of inner growth that we have achieved in this
liturgical year that we are about to conclude next week, with
the Feast of Christ the King of the Universe. What were the goals
we set for ourselves a year ago and what is the fruit we have
achieved?

Desde el escritorio del Padre Gabriel Toro:
“CON NUESTRA PERSEVERANCIA
SALVAREMOS EL ALMA”
- Nos da un poco de temor al oír las palabras del Señor
en la primera lectura, respecto al bien y al mal, con los cuales
convivimos a diario y que solo veremos sus efectos en el día
del juicio donde los malvados y los perversos serán quemados
como la paja dentro de un horno y a los justos serán llevados en
un sol de justicia al trono del Dios de los ejércitos.
- En la segunda lectura, San Pablo exhorta a los
Tesalonicenses a dar buen ejemplo en el trabajo para poder
ofrecer el Evangelio completamente gratis a todos los
hermanos” Nadie nos da balde el pan que comemos, para no ser
carga para otros, porque nos hemos enterado de que algunos
viven sin trabajar”. Todos hemos de trabajar dignamente para
ganar el pan de cada día, cosa que hoy en día hace mucha falta
en especial en el ambiente de las mismas familias, en donde no
se exige de los hijos una respuesta cariñosa y atenta frente a la
manutención del hogar
- En el Evangelio vemos como Jesús no engañó a su Iglesia
presentándole un cuadro rosado, sino que expresamente le
dio a entender que su historia seria larga y estaría llena de
dificultades y de luchas: “A todos los odiarán por causa mía”
pero llegará un día en que no quede piedra sobre piedra.
- Hemos de recordar que la paciencia es un constitutivo
esencial de la esperanza. El cristiano ha de confiar y compartir la
misma paciencia de Jesús. El trabajo seguirá siendo necesario y
dificultoso hasta el día en que se imponga la justicia del trabajo
salvador de Cristo. Amén
- Como tarea para esta semana, les pido a cada uno de
los que lean este mensaje que hagamos una reflexión seria y
consciente sobre las formas y maneras de crecimiento interior
que hemos tenido como logros en este ano litúrgico que
estamos a punto de concluir la próxima semana, con la Fiesta
de Cristo Rey del Universo. ¿Cuáles fueron las metas que nos
propusimos hace un Ano y cual es el fruto logrado?
- Nota adicional: Ya están disponibles las ESTRELLAS DE
NAVIDAD para iluminar nuestra Parroquia en nombre de cada
familia o grupo parroquial. Favor pasar por las Oficinas para
reservarla con tiempo. Gracias a todos.
