SUNDAY, August 7th 2022
“BE READY, FOR NO ONE KNOWS
THE DAY OR THE HOUR”.
- The Christian faith is from now on, as the second reading
of the day says, an unlimited hope, because the believer, more than
believing, hopes. We all hope above all hope and above all failure.
Only in this environment can the Kingdom of God be built and thus
liberate people from all that alienates us. In the Old Testament,
all died by faith without having received what was promised, but
always trusting in God as pilgrims on our way to Him: “Stay awake
and be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not
expect”.
- It is man’s attachment to goods and selfishness that often
separates us from God, which is why the Gospel reminds us not to
lose the inexhaustible treasure of heaven, where our treasure is at
the end of life; therefore, only in a spirit of faith and trust can we
celebrate the Eucharist in the hope of the Lord’s return.
- In the stories of salvation history, we see how the deliverance
of the ancestors in Egypt and the judgement of the oppressors are
not foreign history, they are the confirmed promise of the salvation
of the innocent. That confirmation is a pledge given to those who
wait. Those who knew how to wait, sang the song of liberation. All
the people awaited the salvation of the innocent, says the Wisdom
of God. On this level we can all acclaim with the psalmist: “Blessed
are the people whom the Lord has chosen as his inheritance”.
- Now, as a reflection for this week, what can we improve
in our daily life to please God more and be more prepared to take
this finalstep to eternal life? Let’sjust look at how life absorbs usin
the work environment and often at home, where there is time for
everything, except for God; because we often lack the desire and
will to talk to Him, to ask Him and to intercede before Him for the
good and salvation not only of ourselves, but of the whole world.
- Taking advantage of these days of my holidays from my
country, sharing with my family, I send you my blessing and I place
you on the paten of the daily Eucharist with love and much fervour.

Desde el escritorio del Padre Gabriel Toro:
“ESTAD PREPARADOS PUES NADIE SABE
NI EL DÍA NI LA HORA”
- La Fe cristiana es desde ya, como dice la segunda lectura
del día, una esperanza ilimitada, pues el creyente, mas que creer,
espera. Todos esperamos sobre toda esperanza y por encima de
todo fracaso. Solo en este ambiente se puede construir el Reino de
Dios y así, ir liberando a los hombres de todo lo que nos aliena. Por
la fe murieron todos en el antiguo testamento sin haber recibido
lo prometido, pero siempre confiando en Dios como peregrinos
que vamos hacia El: “Estad en vela y preparados, porque a la hora
que menos penséis, viene el Hijo del Hombre”.
- El apego a los bienes y el egoísmo del hombre es lo que nos
separa muchas veces de Dios, por lo cual nos recuerda el Evangelio
que no echemos a perder el tesoro inagotable del cielo, donde
esta nuestro tesoro al final de la vida; por lo tanto, solamente
en espíritu de fe y confianza podemos celebrar la Eucaristía en la
esperanza de que regrese el Señor
- En los relatos de la historia de la Salvación, vemos como la
liberación de los antepasados en Egipto y el juicio de los opresores
no son historia ajena, son promesa confirmada de la Salvación
del inocente. Aquella confirmación es prenda que se da a los
que esperan. Los que supieron esperar, cantaron el canto de la
liberación. Todo el pueblo esperaba la salvación de los inocentes,
dice la Sabiduría de Dios. En este plano podemos aclamar todos
con el salmista: “Dichoso el pueblo que el Señor se escogió como
heredad”.
- Ahora, como reflexión para esta semana ¿Qué podemos
mejorar en nuestra vida cotidiana para agradar mas a Dios y estar
mas preparados para dar este paso final a la vida eterna? Miremos
no más, como la vida nos absorbe en el ambiente de trabajo y
muchas veces en el hogar, donde hay tiempo para todo, menos
para Dios; pues nos falta muchas veces, deseos y voluntad para
hablar con Él, pedirle a Él e interceder ante El por el bien y la
salvación no solo de nosotros, sino del mundo entero.
- Aprovechando estos días de mis vacaciones desde mi país,
compartiendo con mi familia, les envío mi bendición y los coloco
en la patena de la Eucaristía diaria con amor y mucho fervor.
